A Father lost to Alzheimer
My dear father
I know not
Where you are
Or how you are.
With advancing years
Your memory faded.
Unable to recognize
Your near and dear
You became a child.
And one day
You are lost in a crowd.
You know not your name
Or where you come from,
The hope
That some caring soul;
Would lead you
Back to us
Is fast vanishing.
I shudder to think
Whether you are alive
Homeless and alone
Living on charity
With no identity
And no recollection
Of the loving family
You are having
And if you are dead
The strangers will pity
Not knowing
This was a person
Who has a family?
A miserable daughter
It’s me, who searches
Looking at every beggar,
Tramp and senile
On the streets and roads.
Praying for a humanitarian
Who finds my father
And restores him to me.
From,
C.Radhika
